We are all about upcycling, recycling and repurposing when it comes to creative experiences. Children seem to be drawn to the feel of items -- so we always try and source unique bits and bobs. We frequently visit op-shops for treasures, it's amazing what you can actually find if you go in with a creative mind.
We also try and recycle as many home items as possible to be put to creative use by the little people. It makes us feel good that we can give back to the earth by limiting unnecessary waste as much as possible. It also role-models to children sustainable, earth friendly living. We put together a few photos from recent sourcing to show how simple and uncomplicated the re-use process actually is --
Local op shops/thrift stores are amazing places for finding things that can be upcycled. One of the things we love about these finds is that they are totally unique!
Some see junk we see treasure!
All finds cost a total of $18!
Our recently found serving tray & ceramic cups in-use for collage, glue & paint. We also love recycling our coffee trays & take away food containers as canvases.
Old crochet scraps, gathered gumnuts & dried flowers for creating.
70s server turned collage caddy -- so many uses, also great for nature materials!
Crochet blankie with bubble wrap prints -- this whole experience cost $3 including the cardstock. We are drawn to colourful things!
More pre-loved crochet -- recycled bottles for flower printing with buttons -- basket & ceramic plate were also cute little finds.
Ceramic plate in centre -- really amazing for variety of uses. We are big on left over items used to create, here we have flowers we used for a flat lay, old crochet scraps, bottle tops & gems in our playdough.
As you can see it's really simple to re-use & upcycle. It's very low cost & everything is one-of-a-kind. Plus it's saving our planet. Get out there & visit your local op shop, it's fun & you'll be amazed at the treasures you can find!
